When I feel rushed… God is ABLE

When I was in high school before the accident, I was a cheerleader and soccer player. School was hard for me so I had to study extra hours to make good grades. I didn’t have any time to spare. I knew I needed God’s help, and I wanted to make Him my top priority; so I started setting my alarm a half hour early to sit in my lime green chair and spend time with Him. That is when I started journaling my prayers to God and reading the New Testament for the first time on my own. I didn’t just read it, I used colored pens and highlighters and talked to God about what I was reading. I asked Him to help me understand His words and apply them to my life. The more I didn’t it, the more I craved it! God would meet me in that chair. It felt like He was tangibly there giving me a big “hug” for the day. He would whisper encouragement to my heart through His written words. Every morning He gave the exact courage and strength I needed to conquer the day. He gave me His perspective on what was important. That’s how I first began to totally rely on Him.

You can meet with God anywhere and anytime. It doesn’t have to be in the morning, but I have found that meeting with God first before I do anything else does have a few benefits:

*If I meet with God first, I don’t run out of time for Him.

*When I meet with God first, I seem to be able to accomplish more.

Time with God calms my heart, clears my mind, and miraculously makes a way for me to accomplish more than I could if I attacked the day on my own. I need Him to act on my behalf, so I’ve found that I don’t have time not to meet with Him.

The psalmist explains this beautifully: “I rise early, before the sun is up; I cry out for help and put my hope in your words” (Psalm 119:147).
